How are those working with older people really doing? Tell us – help generate knowledge about working conditions
Now you, a practical nurse, working with older people, have a unique opportunity to contribute by answering a research survey.

Services for older people are changing rapidly and are constantly subject to budget cuts. While concern for service users is justified, it is equally important to understand how workers experience their jobs and what everyday life in elder care looks like.
What does the work consist of, and what is it like to work in elder care? What aspects are rewarding, and what causes strain?
A Nordic research team is seeking answers to these questions. This is the NORDCARE3 study, previously conducted in 2005 and 2015. The study is being carried out in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. Earlier rounds of the NORDCARE project were conducted in collaboration with professional unions in the field, as is the 2025 round. In Finland, the study is led by Professor Teppo Kröger’s research team at the University of Jyväskylä.
By participating, you provide valuable information on how care for older people and working conditions have changed over the past twenty years. You also help compare what works well and what doesn’t in each country. We hope and believe that the study can help improve working conditions in care for older people and secure future services.
Answering the survey takes about 15–30 minutes and can be done easily on a phone, tablet, or computer. The survey is available in Finnish, Swedish, and English. All responses are treated confidentially.
Make your important work visible – you have received the survey in your email, please respond by the end of October!
